Pay-per-View

WWE planned the 2022 Crown Jewel, the company’s fourth professional wrestling pay-per-view and live-stream event. It was conducted for the promotion’s SmackDown and Raw brand divisions of wrestlers. The event was held in Saudi Arabia’s Mrsool Park in Riyadh on Saturday, November 5, 2022.

Following the original event in 2018, which took place there while it was still known as California King Saud University Stadium (W W E will change the stadium name to Wool Park in 2020), the ninth event is part of WWE’s 12-year commitment to Saudi Vision 2030.

Suggestive

During the event, eight matches were played. Logan Paul was defeated by Roman Reigns in the main event, which also featured Logan’s brother Jake Paul. Reigns won to keep the Uncontested WWE Universal Championship.

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship was defeated by Alexa Bliss and Asuka by Damage CTRL, which consisted of Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky.

Bianca Belair defeated Bayley to win the Raw Women’s Championship in a Last Woman Standing match. Brock Lesnar defeated Bobby Lashley in the main event. Olmos was defeated by Braun Strowman. Other notable matches included Braun Strowman defeating Omos and Damage CTRL defeating.

Multiplatform Cooperation

At the beginning of 2018, the General Sports Authority and the American professional wrestling organization WWE launched a 10-year strategic multiplatform agreement in support of Saudi Vision 2030, the nation’s social and economic reform program. Later that year Crown Jewel was formed as one of the partnership’s recurrent events, to be hosted in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. When the news of the event was made public on May 23, 2022, it would be the fourth in the Crown Jewel chronology and the eighth overall for the Saudi Arabian alliance.

Crown Jewel Host

Mrsool Park hosted the event on Saturday, November 5, 2022; it hosted the first Crown Jewel in 2018 when it was still known as King Saud University Stadium; in 2020, the stadium’s name was changed to Mrsool Park. This was the second Crown Jewel to be held there. Wrestlers from the Raw and SmackDown brands competed in the event, which was broadcast on pay-per-view globally, Peacock in the US, and the WWE Network in other countries.

Main Story

The program included matches that were the culmination of predetermined plotlines in which wrestlers played the parts of heroes, villains, or less-defined characters in tense situations that led to a single match or a series of matches. Results were established by writers for the Raw and SmackDown brands while plots were constructed for WWE’s weekly television program, Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown.

Crown Jewel Feature

The event featured matches that came about as a result of manufactured storylines, in which wrestlers took on the roles of heroes, villains, or less distinct characters in scripted events that created suspense and concluded in a wrestling contest or series of matches.

On the Raw and SmackDown brands, the authors of WWE fixed the outcomes, whereas the writers of WWE’s weekly television programs, Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown, created the storylines.

Logan Paul & Roman Reigns

Logan Paul trash-talked Roman Reigns on social media after the wrestler departed the set of his appearance on the podcast Impulsive.

Paul then challenged The Bloodline on SmackDown on September 16 and asked Reigns to a press conference in Las Vegas the following day after they had a chat on social media.

It was announced by the WWE executive Triple H, in a press conference that Reigns will defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Paul at Crown Jewel. This will be Paul’s third encounter in the company.

Judgment Day

Reigns would have The Bloodline on his side (with the exception of Sami Zayn), it was announced during the Crown Jewel in a press conference the day before the show, but Paul would have his brother Jake Paul on his side. Aj Styles was invited to join The Judgment Day stables by Finn Bálor and Rhea Ripley after they had worked together in New Japan Pro-Bullet Wrestling’s Club.

The groups consisted of AJ Styles, Damien Priest, Dominik Mysterio, and Rhea Ripley. Styles appeared to accept the offer, but instead, he turned it down and reformed The O.C. by introducing Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, who were freed from WWE in April 2020 and are now back. The two then got into a fight.

Crown Jewel Tag Teams

The following week at Crown Jewel, Judgment Day issued the O.C. a challenge to compete in a six-man tag team match. The O.C. accepted.

Bobby Lashley read out the names of former wrestlers he had defeated on the Raw program from October 10; among them was Brock Lesnar, who he had only met once and defeated at the Royal Rumble in January. Then, in a surprise, Lesnar made his first appearance since Summer Slam in July and attacked Lashley. In the United States Championship defense that took place immediately after the altercation, this ultimately cost Lashley his title. Backstage, Lashley issued Lesnar a challenge to compete against him on the upcoming broadcast.

The two men’s altercation stopped when Lashley punched Lesnar through the commentators’ table. A Crown Jewel bout between the two was scheduled for later that evening.

Scarlett Kross’ wife used pepper spray to knock out Drew McIntyre before Karrion Kross defeated him in a strap match at Extreme Rules.

Kross was slated to engage in a fatal four-way match to decide who would be the top challenger for the Intercontinental Championship on the following night’s SmackDown.

Kross could not compete due to a car accident (kayfabe) and an attack by McIntyre while obtaining aid, which occurred before the start of SmackDown.

To compete against Kross in the Steel Cage battle at Crown Jewel the following week, McIntyre revealed.

Crown Jewel Key event

In the main event of Wrestle Mania 35, Roman Reigns defended his title in a brutal battle with Logan Paul. The Uso brothers, Jey and Jimmy, interrupted the match in the middle and attacked Mike Majlak and George Janko, the co-hosts of Logan’s Impulsive, who were sitting at ringside. The Usos were then defeated by Logan’s brother, Jake Paul. The Usos then appeared, and Logan eliminated the Usos as Solo Sikoa walked out to face Jake. Reigns defeated Paul with a superman punch and a spear when Logan returned to the ring to win the championship.
