The Newcastle United team can continue the Premier League title race, moving to second place after their three-to-zero win in Leicester.
The six-week break has not derailed what has been a memorable season, and the Magpies eased to the win after a fantastic first 32 minutes.
Newcastle’s Dwight Gayle scored the first goal and Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette added another two minutes later to leave United 3-0 down.
In late December, a win would have given Leicester a chance of going tied in points with Arsenal who had yet to play.

It’s been 45 days since their last victory, but it turns out this one was the sixth consecutive Premier League win for Howe’s side. It is also their best run since 2012. Howe’s team is showing that their outstanding first half of the season was not just a fluke.
Though the Magpies’ fate isn’t yet clear, there is still a long way to go.
Newcastle players have the quality to keep up with Arsenal and Manchester City. However, a top-four finish is all that needs for Newcastle fans to finally experience the joy of Champions League football.
Without James Maddison, Leicester City didn’t even have a chance. Newcastle’s fast start was too much for the struggling Leicester players and there was no way back.

Brendan Rodgers might not have dreamt up Newcastle being two goals ahead after only seven minutes, with the team being on fire all game.
Chris Wood, stepping in for player Callum Wilson who was ill, scored a goal in the third minute. Daniel Amartey hacked down Joelinton and Chris Wood then scored.
A couple of minutes later, it was 2-0 as Almiron scored yet another spectacular goal to continue his run of good form before the World Cup.

After Kieran Tripper did well to set him free down the right, he cut inside and played a delightful one-two with Bruno Guimaraes. He calmly slotted past Danny Ward for his eighth goal in nine Premier League games.
When Leicester began settling, they knew they needed to score the next goal. They almost did as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall played through Patson Daka.
The striker raced to the ball, but Nick Pope cut him off, blocking a close-range shot. However, the ball took an unlucky bounce and deflected back out to Daka. Sven Botman was forced to clear the bouncing ball away with just enough time to spare between Daka’s foot and the goal line.

After Joelinton scored a goal, he celebrated by giving the thumbs-up to the referee.
Newcastle took the lead in the 32nd minute when Joelinton was allowed to head home Trippier’s corner uncontested.
In the second half, Newcastle focused more on the containment of Botman, while Almiron had an effort blocked.
Of course, this means that Newcastle’s perfect start in their first 16 games is not without consequence.
